Old Yeller, Marley and Me, Because of Winn Dixie, The Art of Racing in the Rain, etc. etc.

What do all of these books have in common? Well, for one thing they’re all full-length novels about dogs. But the other thing they have in common is that they were written by writers who had dogs. And we’re hoping that you fit this description.

We are publishing a coffee-table styled book of stories about the lives of dogs that have left us. The idea for Gone Dogs started with a simple blog post about the passing of a dog. The kind of post most of us who are on social media see with some frequency. Our original concept was to crowd-source stories for the book via the dog-loving general public. After all, just about any person who has outlived a dog qualifies to contribute. We believe that every dog’s life contains a great story.

Only, we’ve since learned that most people are reluctant to contribute because they’re “not a writer.” Even after coaxing and coaching, the general public has been slow to respond to our call for entries.

This is where you come in.

As a writer who has lived with, loved, and lost a dog, you’re the perfect candidate to be part of our book. You already know how to sit down and tell a story. You don’t need coaching.

Although, you might need a little coaxing — so in addition to listing you as an author in our book, we’re also offering a spot on our Authors Page. This page will feature a photo, your bio, and a link to the website of your choosing. Finally, we’re also paying with two copies of the book if your story is selected for publication.

So what do you say? Want to become a co-author of the greatest collection of love stories about dogs ever published? We hope so. Click around on the site to get a feel for what we’re doing and be sure to check out the FAQs.

We’d love to include you in our inaugural volume of Gone Dogs.
